A hair transplant procedure - a surgical procedure - is the transplantation of hair follicles into bald or thinning areas of the scalp. A strip of scalp with hair follicles is removed from a donor area and transplanted to the recipient area.
Hair transplant procedures offer natural-looking hair restoration, address baldness, and improve self-esteem. This modern technique originated with Japanese physician Dr. Shoji Okuda in 1939, who experimented with small punch grafts.
